Mystical Heirloom God Of War Ragnarok Location And Quest Guide

God of War Ragnarok features many hidden secrets and unique equipment pieces scattered across the Nine Realms. Among the most intriguing items is the Mystical Heirloom, a mysterious relic that seems useless in standard combat at first glance. Unlocking this relic allows players to awaken ancient slumbering beasts and earn powerful late-game crafting materials.
How to Find the Mystical Heirloom in Midgard
To acquire the Mystical Heirloom, players must first progress through the main story until they obtain the Draupnir Spear. Once this weapon is unlocked during the Forging Destiny questline, travel to the Lake of Nine in Midgard.
Head to the southwest region located between Tyr's Temple and The Lost Treasury building. Look for a massive wall of ice containing a glowing yellow wind fissure. Throw the Draupnir Spear into the fissure and detonate it to shatter the barrier. Inside the newly opened crevice, you will find a dwarf corpse holding the Mystical Heirloom relic alongside a lore scroll.
Understanding the Relic's Unique Function
Unlike standard combat relics that deal direct damage or boost status attributes, the Mystical Heirloom serves a specialized narrative and exploration purpose. Equipping this item and activating it near specific stone statues will break their magic curse and awaken hidden mini-bosses.
When activated, Kratos taps the relic against his armor to release a localized magical pulse. This pulse reawakens ancient stone trolls and a legendary dragon scattered throughout various realms. Defeating these formidable opponents rewards players with rare resources that cannot be obtained anywhere else.
Locating and Awakening the Four Stone Trolls
The first slumbering troll, Blodugr Steinn, is located at The Derelict Outpost in Midgard. Journey to the snowy ruins and activate the relic near the life-like statue to initiate the battle.
The second troll, Bjarg Stormr, rests within The Forbidden Sands region of Alfheim. Make sure to clear the local sandstorm quest first so you can reach the elevated platform where the statue stands. Use the relic to awaken the beast and claim its unique enchantment drops.
The final two trolls, Golrab of the Ashes and Golrab of the Frost, are found together at Noatun's Garden in Vanaheim. Because one troll resists elemental fire and the other resists frost, using the Draupnir Spear is the most effective combat strategy here. Defeating both grants the final Slumber Stones required for crafting.
Awakening The Everlasting Dragon and Crafting Rewards
Beyond the four trolls, players can also use the Mystical Heirloom at Dragon Beach in Svartalfheim. Activating the relic in front of the giant dragon statue summons a powerful mini-boss named The Everlasting. Defeating this dragon yields extra Dragon Claws and the Jotunheim's Force enchantment for your amulet.
Collecting all Slumber Stones from the troll encounters allows players to visit any blacksmith shop to craft the Steinbjorn armor set. This armor provides exceptional defense stats and grants a unique perk that restores Kratos' health whenever he takes significant damage in battle. Completing this questline gives players a massive advantage during tough end-game encounters.
